find operating a computer difficult, maybe even impossible. AbilityHub
is a firm starting point for finding information concerning Assistive Technology.
BBC Education
Web Guide, brings you the newest and best websites for learning at
home, at school and at college and university. The sites included in the
BBC Education Web Guide have been hand-picked by a team of subject specialists,
and scrutinised for educational rigour by experts at BBC Education. The
Guide provides a one stop shop for the best educational resources on the
internet and is the focal point for all of the BBC's educational resources.

the net this is a remarkable site, and one that should be visited by all

The
British National Health Service, This site is full of information about
the NHS and other health authorities within the UK. It also has links to
journals on health matters, and to sites which you can find out more about
a particular medical problem. The site is by Mr Daniel Widdows.
Cambridge Training
and Development Ltd, is a partner in a UK government initiative called
BASIL, Basic skills for inclusive learning. The project is aimed at supporting
tutors of adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who are
developing literacy and numeracy skills.
CareLine, provide
information on health and social services for the residents of the London
borough of Wandsworth and are funded by Wandsworth Borough Council and
Merton, Sutton & Wandsworth Health Authority to do so. As part of our
information strategy we have a web site and in this we maintain a database
of sites we feel may be of interest to our clients.

the field of disability and information systems for staff and students
in the UK.
DREAMS for Kids, Inc.
(Developmental Research for the Effective Advancement of Memory and Motor
Skills) is a non-profit parent and professional service agency, that specializes
in Assistive Technology (AT) related research, development, and information
dissemination. Founded in 1988 by the parents of a child with Down
syndrome, DREAMS is committed to facilitating the use of computers, assistive
and adaptive technologies, and quality instructional technologies for students
and youth with special needs in schools, homes, and the community. There
is a monthly newsletter on there site too.

Breath by Richard Hill. John Prestwich lives just minutes from death.
Paralysed, unable even to breathe a mechanical ventilator keeps him alive.
if it fails, John will be unconscious within three minutes and dead within
five. He holds the Guinness World Record for Being completely dependant
on a ventilator for over 40 years. His ventilator gives him one thousand
breaths an hour, eight and a half million a year and over 350 million since
he contracted polio on his seventeenth birthday on the 24th November 1955.

I have enjoyed reading this fascinating story with great interest and I
honestly believe you would also be interested in this page. Richard Hill
the site owner has written an unbelievable web page. He is a professional
writer and this is very obvious when you start reading.
Education Wife
Assault (EWA), A non-profit organization located in Toronto, Canada.
Many deaf and hard of hearing women are not aware of the resources available
to them and are less likely to seek help when being abused. There website
now includes a free searchable directory of services for abused deaf women
in seven cities in Ontario, Canada. The directory provides:
1. names and locations of organizations that offer services
for abused women.
2. listings of services helpful to abused women.
3. type of access available for women with disabilities and
deaf women.
Also available on the website is a pamphlet entitled "Women
with Disabilities, Deaf women and the Domestic Violence Courts". They are
trying to make this content more available to deaf women in order to improve
the ability of abused deaf women to access services and of services to
serve abused deaf women.
Health Centre,
The Health Centre is here to guide you through the huge amount of medical
and health information from the UK that is available on the internet. There
links are mainly to UK sites, but where no UK alternative exists, some
international sites are included. The Health Centre is maintained by David
Rayne who is a rural general practitioner in North Yorkshire, UK. While
we do not believe that UK information is any better or worse than information
from other countries, we do feel that home sourced information is more
likely to be relevant to UK consumers and professionals than information

is a support network and web pal service specifically for people who live
with Multiple Sclerosis "MS". It is also a member of the MS webring. This
is an excellent site, and one that should be visited. UK.

pages are to publicize there work, provide information about services and
indicate where to go for more information. Lots of information here about
all disabilities. UK.
MUMS,
is a National Parent to Parent Network whose mission is to help parents
who have a child with a rare diagnosis make connections with other parents
in similar situations. MUMS is voluntary, non-profit organization that
runs on donations. In order make sure that this service is available for
those families who need it, they are only able to facilitate matches for
families whose child has a rare disorder.

Disability Council, A very useful site to know about, It has the Disability
Discrimination Act, within it's pages. And a lot more as well, UK.

families, carers and professionals. This is a very interesting magazine,
it has articles from all over the world on it's pages, And not just articles
which are related from the magazines country of origin which I think is
USA. An excellent magazine and well worth visiting.

raising children with disabilities. An excellent resource for parents,
